DIY Reed Diffuser
Creating a DIY reed diffuser is a simple and effective way to add a pleasant aroma to your home while allowing you to customize scents to your liking. Follow these steps to make your own:
Materials Needed:
A small glass container (such as a jar or bottle)
Bamboo skewers or purchase diffuser eeds online
Carrier oil (such as jojoba or almond oil)
Essential oils of your choice (e.g., lavender, eucalyptus, citrus)
A funnel (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the Container:
Clean your glass container to remove any residue or dust. This ensures the scent blends smoothly.
Mix the Oils:
In a measuring cup or bowl, combine ¾ cup of carrier oil with 15–30 drops of essential oil, depending on how strong you want the fragrance. For a balanced scent, try a combination of essential oils.
Fill the Container:
Using a funnel, carefully pour the oil mixture into the glass container, filling it to about two-thirds full. This allows space for the reeds to soak up the oil.
Insert the Reeds:
Cut the pointed end of the bamboo skewer and place into the container.
Display and Enjoy:
Position the diffuser in a desirable location where it will not be disturbed. For best results, place it in a corner or a central area where it can disperse the fragrance evenly.
Maintain the Diffuser:
To refresh the scent, flip the reeds every few days, allowing the oil to travel to the top. Add more essential oil or carrier oil as needed to maintain the fragrance level.
Safety Precautions:
Keep the diffuser out of reach of children and pets, and avoid placing it near heat sources as the oils can become flammable.
With this straightforward approach, you can enjoy a customized fragrance in your home while also embracing a fun, personalized project.
