Sesame Seed Cookies Recipe
Ingredients:
1 cup sesame seeds, toasted (divided; if raw, see step 1)
1 1/2 cups flour (all-purpose)
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
3/4 cup sugar (granulated)
1/2 cup butter (softened)
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 egg
Instructions:
Toast the Sesame Seeds: If using raw sesame seeds, toast them lightly in a large heavy skillet over medium heat until golden brown, shaking the skillet and stirring frequently to keep them moving. Remove from heat and set aside.
Mix the Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, whole wheat flour, sugar, water, softened butter, baking powder, vanilla extract, salt, and egg. Beat until well blended.
Add Sesame Seeds: Stir in 1/2 cup of the toasted sesame seeds.
Shape the Cookies: Using about 2 teaspoons of dough for each cookie, shape the dough into ovals about 2 inches in length. Roll each oval in the remaining toasted sesame seeds.
Prepare for Baking: Place the ovals about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheets.
Bake: Bake in the preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until lightly browned.
Cool and Store: Remove the cookies to wire racks to cool. Store the cookies in a tightly covered container.
