Mums
Chrysanthemum sometimes called mums or chrysanths, are flowering plants of the genus Chrysanthemum in the family Asteraceae. Most species originate from East Asia and the center of diversity is in China. They come in a wide variety of brilliant colors, shapes and sizes. They’re wonderful for decorating the home indoors and out.
They are sun loving plants. As far as the soil, Chrysanthemums can survive in most soils, but they thrive in well-draining soil with consistent moisture. Growing mums in hard, dry soil prevents the roots from becoming well established, while wet, boggy soil drowns the roots.
One of the most popular flowers for the fall garden. Mums are most often purchased in the fall. Many folks think they are annuals and will throw them away after the blooms die. However, if you buy hardy mums, you can get them to bloom year after year.
