Cast Iron Baked Cream of Wheat Bread (Farina)
Farina is a form of milled wheat, populary known as Cream of Wheat. It’s an excellent substiute for corn bread. A little tumeric give the bread its warm yellow color.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups white whole wheat flour
1 cup raw sugar
3/4 cup farina
1 tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1/2 cup butter or corn oil
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon turmeric (optional)
Optional: Chopped Jalapeno peppers for added spice
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Lightly grease a 9-inch round pie or cake pan.
In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, farina, sugar, salt, and baking powder. Mix well.
Add the eggs, milk, and melted butter or oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until well combined.
Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes. The cake is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
For an extra spicy kick, consider adding chopped Jalapeno peppers to the batter before baking.
