Pita Chips

Pita chips are made from pita bread. They are typically baked or fried until crispy, offering a crunchy texture that pairs well with various dips and spreads.

Pita Chips

Ingredients

  • 4 large pita bread rounds

  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon sea salt

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)

  • Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary or thyme, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Prepare the Pita Bread: Cut each pita round into wedges. You can cut them into quarters or eighths, depending on your preferred chip size.

  3. Season the Chips: In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, sea salt, garlic powder, and paprika, if using. Brush the pita wedges in the mixture until they are evenly coated.

  4. Arrange on a Baking Sheet: Place the seasoned pita chips in a single layer on a baking sheet. Make sure they are not overlapping to ensure even baking.

  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-15 minutes, or until the chips are golden brown and crisp. Keep an eye on them, as baking times may vary.

  6. Cool: Remove from the oven and let the chips cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes. They will continue to crisp up as they cool.

  7. Serve: Enjoy the pita chips plain or with your favorite dip, such as hummus or tzatziki.

Storage

Store any leftover pita chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For maximum freshness, you can re-crisp them in the oven for a few minutes before serving.
