Homemade Sour Cream Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup milke, or buttermilk or plain yogurt
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
Instructions
Combine Ingredients: In a clean mason jar or regular jar with lid, mix the heavy cream and your choice of miik. Add salt if desired.
Screw the lid on tigh and shake well.
Ferment: Let the mixture sit at room temperature for 12 to 24 hours. The longer it sits, the thicker and tangier the sour cream will become.
Check Consistency: After the fermentation period, check the consistency. It should be thick and creamy. If it's not thick enough, let it sit for a few more hours.
Refrigerate: Once desired thickness is achieved, refridgerate. It will continue to thicken slightly as it cools.
