One-ingredient desserts offer simplicity and a unique approach to satisfying your sweet tooth. Here are a few notable options:

Instructions:

  1. Select and Prepare Bananas: Choose ripe bananas that are speckled with brown spots for optimal sweetness and flavor. There should not be any geen anywere on the banana. An unripe banana will produce a bitter tasting ice cream.

  2. Peel the bananas and cut them into slices.

  3. Freeze the Bananas: Place the sliced bananas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper in a single layer. Freeze for at least 2 hours or until solid.

  4. Blend: Transfer the frozen banana slices to a food processor or high-powered blender. Blend until creamy, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. The mixture will transition from crumbly to smooth within a few minutes.

  5. Serve or Store: Enjoy the banana ice cream immediately for a soft-serve texture, or transfer it to a container and freeze for an additional 1-2 hours for a firmer consistency.

This simple one-ingredient banana ice cream is a delicious and healthy alternative to traditional ice cream, with no added sugars or dairy. Enjoy it on its own or as a base for toppings like sunflower seeds, honey, chocolate chips, or fruit.

Ripe Bananas

It's important that the banana is VERY ripe. There should not be any green anywhere on the banana. An unripe banana will produce a bitter tasting ice cream.
