Sesame Seed Candy
Honey Sesame Seed Candy: A Healthy Version
Honey sesame seed candy, is a traditional treat made from sesame seeds and sweeteners. While the classic versions often contain refined sugars and additives, a healthier approach using honey can enhance its nutritional value while still providing a delightful taste.
Ingredients
1 1/3 cups honey
3 cups toasted sesame seeds
Instructions
Toast the Sesame Seeds (if not pre-toasted)
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread the sesame seeds evenly on a sheet pan.
Toast in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, checking at the five-minute mark. Remove once fragrant and golden brown.
Prepare the Sheet Pan
Line a sheet pan with parchment paper for easy removal of the candy.
Cook the Honey
In a medium-high heat saucepan, bring the honey to a boil.
Add the Sesame Seeds
Stir in the toasted sesame seeds and bring to a second boil.
Continue stirring for approximately 1 minute until the mixture thickens and the seeds are well coated.
Transfer the Mixture
Pour the honey and sesame seed mixture onto the prepared sheet pan.
Shape the Candy
For bars: Spread the mixture evenly to create a flat layer. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
For sesame balls: Let the mixture cool slightly until manageable (still warm but not hot). Roll into small balls or shape into logs. Alternatively, flatten and cut using a pizza knife or kitchen shears.
Cool and Serve
Allow to cool completely before serving or storing. Enjoy your healthier sesame seed candy!
