Jalapeno salsa

Salsa is a vibrant and versatile condiment that enhances a variety of dishes with its fresh ingredients and bold flavors. Typically made with a combination of tomatoes, onions, peppers, cilantro, lime juice, and seasonings, salsa can range from mild to extra spicy, catering to a wide range of taste preferences.

Ingredients

  • 4 ripe plum tomatoes, diced

  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers, minced (adjust based on heat preference)

  • 1 small red onion, finely chopped

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped

  • Juice of 1 lime

  • Salt to taste

  • Optional: 1/2 teaspoon cumin for added flavor

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, minced jalapeños, chopped red onion, and minced garlic.

  2. Add the chopped cilantro and lime juice to the bowl.

  3. Season with salt and, if desired, a pinch of cumin.

  4. Mix all ingredients thoroughly.

  5. Let the salsa sit for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  6. Serve with tortilla chips or as a topping for your favorite dishes.

For a variation, roasted salsa can be made by charring the tomatoes and peppers before blending, which adds a smoky depth.
